A bungee rope is constructed of about 900 rubber threads, each 1 mm thick. During a jump, the rope has an elongation of about 400%. The rope is attached to the jumper with the help of the harness tied around the jumper’s ankles. In addition, the jumper wears a body harness that serves a protective purpose. Thus, the jumper is attached to the rope at three different places. Ropes can be made in various thickness and lengths. Jumping height as well as the jumper’s weight has to be taken into account in producing bungee ropes. |
